Do you like the AK-47? Have you shot or considered an AK-47 pistol? Are you familiar with PSA’s AKP?
If you like the AK-47, you should be. First time I shot and reviewed the AKP I was shocked at how accurate it was. Check this out.

Now just when you think the AKP could not get better – surprise, it can! Let’s take a look and see.

I’m Drew, welcome to Beyond Seclusion where I only give you my honest opinion. I absolutely love the AKP and got one for myself. The first thing I noticed when I got it and put a red dot on it and got it zeroed and broke in, I was pretty much getting the same groups and distance as I was getting with my bigger, longer GF3. For me, it was simple – I sold my GF3 and I went with my AKP. Check out the short and sweet review I did of the AKP.

We love this, but hey, this is straight out of the box. I haven’t touched it, I haven’t done anything to the sights. I love doing an out-of-the-box because those of you that really aren’t into sighting in, especially with an AK, you wanna see how it’s going to do, so let’s just see how it’s gonna do. That’s at 50 yards straight out-of-the-box. Let’s go down and have some more fun.

Just got done tightening the AKP, 50 yards with a SIG Romeo 5 using Tula 122 grain Full Metal Jacket. We came down here. This was originally all that was on the target. Brought it back down, got on target, then came and stuck another one and this is again using Tula. That’s a decent group. I’m more than happy with that. So, we got sighted in at 50, no problem. Let’s just quick ring out at 100. We’ll jump across the pond, we’ll go 200.

Oh, yeah, doesn’t get any better than that. Or can it?

I gotta hold the SIGs Romeo MSR and Juliet 3 Micro Combo. Let’s see what we can do with this.

Real quick, I wanna show you if you’re not familiar with PSA’s AKP and the AKV, they’re the same. The dust cover typically is not a good mounting place for optics with an AK except PSA, they’ve got a hinge and you get a great return to zero. You’re getting about as solid as you’re gonna get with a dust cover and then everything else internally is the same as any other AKP or AK and you just drop that down and you’re good to go. I love it!

Ok, so my initial sight in, I started over here, three-shot group, made some adjustments, three-shot group flyer there, and then I have four shots there. I went down, cleaned the barrel, made a couple of adjustments, a couple of clicks. Nice! And that’s the group I got, that’s five shots with the Tula 154 grain, so other than the flyer, that’s sweet. Then I went with the Federal, had a few of those, that’s not bad. Then the Winchester, and then I came back and did another five-shot group with the Tula. So, I really like the ability to quickly change from open, no magnification red dot to a three power magnification if I need to stretch the distance or be more precise.

Let’s see how far I can go with this. We just checked it at 50 yards. I’m gonna skip a 100 because If I’m gonna bang on the steel out here at 200, save me a little ammo and this is more entertaining anyway, let’s just give it a go. Wow! All right, that’s not bad. Let’s go 300. Now just remember, this little AK pistol and we’re using Tula, we’re not using some match ammo. We’re gonna stretch out here to 300 and see if we can hit this. Let’s just see how fast I can get five rounds on target at 200 yards.

Hey, that wasn’t bad! Can we still get better? Oh, yeah!

Are you familiar with Fostech? You might wanna be after watching this. Just when I thought I could not love my AKP anymore, I got my hands on a Fostech Echo AK trigger. Don’t take my word for it, check this out.

Hey guys, real quick note, because this is important, when it comes to the Fostech trigger for the AK. AKs are not like an AR-15, we don’t have middle spec, there’s a lot of variability with AKs, and so it is very likely that you could run into some issues when you install the trigger and may need some finagling. One way to avoid that is just simply send in your AK and allow Fostech. Otherwise, you just got to have some patience and do a little troubleshooting. One thing that I did find is the spring, just simply replacing the spring. I thin, and talking to Fostech, is going to eliminate you know, upwards of 90 percent of all issues, so you might want to just start off with a spring or go ahead and try to install it yourself and see if you run into any issues and then get the spring, anyway, just wanted to point that out. Now that I got it running… man, that was some serious fun. That’s what I’m talking about.
