PSA Dagger – Review After 7500 Rounds

PSA Dagger - REVIEW after 7,500 Rds.

Home / Blog / PSA Dagger – REVIEW after 7,500 Rds.

I’ve been waiting a long time to get my hands on PSA Dagger, the day has arrived. This particular Dagger has been making its rounds through multiple YouTube channels and reviews to test its durability and get different points of view. Thus far it’s had 6,500 rounds through it, and I’m going to take it to 7,500 using eight different brands of ammo, from 115 Grain, full metal jacket Russian steel case, to 147 Grain self-defense Hollow Point, anywhere from 10 to 200 yards. Let’s check it out.

I’m Drew Case, welcome to Beyond Seclusion where I only give you my honest opinion, and it is what it is. To my knowledge, there have not been any issues with the Dagger thus far as it’s made its way through the various hands and reviews. The only thing that has been replaced is the guide rod spring, which is recommended as normal routine maintenance at 5,000 rounds. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the Dagger let’s just take a quick look at the specs and tech and a real quick up-close look at the features.

PSA Dagger 9mm Overview

Real quick up close to the PSA Dagger, we’ve got serrations both front and back, the sights are sort of the classic, Glock single white dot. The grip I have to say is a huge improvement over Glock, very comfortable, and fits the hand nicely. We’ve got the thumb or finger shelves here, they’re not textured or anything like that, but they do work

A rail here, I don’t like it when they only give us one slot, they can make a difference depending on what we’re mounting on here, I would like to see more slots, but that’s just a personal preference. Comes with a 15-round mag, PMAG.

The breakdown is going to be just like with the Glock, then we pull the trigger, slide comes off. The slide is stainless steel, barrel, and also the guide rod is stainless steel and comes apart. Goes back together, classic Glock style. The only safety that it has is the striker fire block, and then the trigger safety.

Guys, if you’re familiar with a Glock trigger this is exceptionally better, I absolutely hate, I can’t say that enough, I hate the triggers on Glocks, and this is nothing like a Glock trigger. Short crisp, reset, little travel or creep, crisp, clean break.

That one’s five and a half! Close to six! Five and a half!
Measuring of The PSA Dagger Trigger Pull
I think one of the things noticed here on the palm swell it really tapers together, and that’s really different than the classic Glock and a lot of pistols. That really fits perfectly right here in the crook of my hand, and, guys, I’ve got small hands, which is why I don’t like Glocks, they feel like I’m holding on a two-by-four, as where this is extremely comfortable.

I’m not a huge Glock fan, but I do respect the name, durability, and dependability, and one thing I hate about the Glock is the feel. I gotta say the Dagger does not feel like a Glock in my hands, it may look like a Glock, it may be a Glock clone, but it doesn’t feel like a Glock.

testing starts – step 1 – zeroing

I’m just getting ready to get started here at 50 yards, I went to shoot some steel and it was shooting about a foot to the right. I found one of the best ways to zero a pistol at a distance.

I know a lot of people are gonna disagree with me on that, because who’s shooting a pistol at 50 yards, I am, but whatever it is off, even if it’s a quarter inch at 10 yards, at 50 yards it’s gonna be off noticeably, and I have found that you’re gonna get the best zero at distance because you’re gonna notice the ever so slightest, you know, to the left, to the right, not so much up and down.

But, anyway, I’ve got some paper up here, I’ve got the Browning’s ammo here, I’ve got the most of this so I’m going to load up a mag here and we’re going to see exactly where this is shooting.

Alright, pretty big pattern there at 50, seems to be just a dash to the right.

Zeroing the PSA Dagger 9mm

I went to the instruction book and there’s actually nothing in the instructions on how to adjust the sights. If I remember right it’s shooting just a little bit to the right so I gave it just ever so slight tap and move to the left, we’ll try again here. Also, I noticed, before I forget, I didn’t see anything about plus P ammo in the manual, so I shot PSA an email asking about plus P ammo.

Zeroing the Dagger with Geco Ammo

Actually, I want to try some Geco, I’ve had really good luck shooting Geco!

See, and that’s exactly what I’m talking about with Geco, 50 yards here, that’s actually a solid group!

There you go, guys, proof’s in the pudding, she definitely likes the 147 Grain. The x’s, you know, must have had a flinch up there, still shooting a bit to the right, that’s impressive, I mean that’s a good group at 50 yards, even benching it, with that little compact 9mm.

Zeroing the Dagger with Tula

The next one I’m going to use is Tula, actually, this often surprises, I’ve had very frequently my best accuracy with Tula. Again, why I’m doing this at 50 yards, in my opinion, anybody can hit steel at 10 yards, I mean I, can throw a rock, and I can run really fast with a sharp stick at 10 yards.

To showcase a pistol’s capability and especially the trigger shooting at 50 and 100, you know, with a really shitty trigger, you’re not going to hit the steel at 50 and 100, that slow creep and a crappy break and a hard break is going to be just enough to get you off, at that distance you’re never going to hit steel.

That’s why I’m taking the time here to see which of these is the most accurate so I know what to take out at a distance at 100 and 200 or 50 versus back in my CQB range up close.

Actually, pretty decent group, I may have tapped it just a little too much to the left. I’m going to color these and I want to try the Wolf and see if it’s also to the left. I just colored the Wolf in red, guys, that’s a sweet group at 50 yards, I mean that really pretty tight out of there. I think I tapped just a little bit too far to the left so I’m gonna very carefully try to tap it back to the right just a little bit and then put that screw back in, and we should be good to go, then on steel at some distance and see what we can do.

The last round of Wolf is the green, I’ve made just a slight tap to the right. Let’s just see what we can do on the steel with this zero.

Testing PSA Dagger at CQB Range

Alright, back here at the CQB range, I got my buddy Jody with me, we’re gonna put the Dagger, we got I think 14 targets, we’re going to go through a lot of ammo back here, we’ve got a bucket of water. Let’s just have at it.

I don’t even know how many rounds this is, let’s clear mag here, do some more on the steel. That’s awesome!

Got my buddy Jody here with me, he’s gonna help me go through the thousand rounds here.

– Drew: Jody got Glocks. You like Glocks?

– Jody: I got three Glocks and I love them!

– Drew: What do you think, how does it feel in your hands?

– Jody: Feels good, feels like a Taurus pistol grip, but the top part being Glock. Let’s try this out!

– Drew: Alright!

Using the KCI 50-round Drum Magazine

I think I’m pretty sure this is a KCI 50-round drum, we’re just going to try this. Yeah, I’ve had mixed results with these in the past, so if we have any failure to feed or anything I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the drum.

As you’re shooting this thing is rocking back and forth, it was really kind of hard to hold on to, but it emptied.

SGM Tactical & UMC Remington

Got an SGM Tactical, yeah, I’ve had pretty decent luck with these, and I’m using the UMC Remington.

Nice!

That’s why I’ve had good luck with SGM!

All the way up to 100 Yards

That works, it is what it is. Let’s see what we can do with this at some distance starting at 50 yards and moving out. Let’s just see how far we can go.

That was the first light primer strike!

This is Wolf Military Classic, we’ll put it in try one more.

Kind of starting to have some issues with this Wolf Military Classic, that’s the only one thus far. It seems to be a mag issue. I’m going to switch mags. It’s definitely a mag issue here. I real quick took apart, cleaned, and oiled the mags, let’s see if that gets anything better with the Wolf Military Classic.

Well, it fixed that issue, didn’t help me hitting the steel.
